How do private dental prices work?

Unlike NHS dental care, most private dentists charge for each treatment that they provide. However, all dental practices must be transparent about their prices and you can always ask your dentist to explain their fees to you.

Private dentists often provide a range of prices for their treatments. This is because the same treatment for one patient might be more complex and time-consuming than for another patient. It is for this reason that private dentists are unlikely to give you an exact price for certain treatments until they have seen your mouth.

You will probably need to attend a routine dental appointment when you register with a private dentist. Most private dental practices will charge for this initial appointment, and will then provide you with a treatment plan that includes a breakdown of what you will need to pay per treatment.

Many private dentists take deposits in advance for both routine appointments and treatments. These are generally refundable, so long as you follow their cancellation policy.
